Instead of having to remember long IP addresses to view websites, domain names make it easy to remember websites. Domain names are a word or words that are assigned to an IP address so it is easier to remember, such as your-site.com. It is much easier to type in www.your-site.com in a web browser, then have to remember the IP address.
