I have a Laptop/Smartphone/Tablet and need to sync emails on my PC or Mac as well.
Solution This way will allow you to sync, in realtime, email between all devices. The best way to configure this combination is to use IMAP instead of POP3 to receive email. Configure the email client on your PC and handheld device to use an IMAP (If the account already exists as a POP/POP3 you will need to remove the account from your device and re-create it as an IMAP) server. If you do not have an IMAP client, you will need to install one. Popular PC clients include Outlook, Thunderbird and Macmail. All modern phones or Tablets include email clients that support IMAP as well. There are a variety of free 3rd party IMAP apps available as well; check your app store for those.

The mail settings are exactly the same as POP3, with 2 exceptions:

1) When creating the email account, your email client may ask you what kind of server you connect to. Just choose IMAP

2) Incoming server should be imap.DOMAIN.COM instead of pop.DOMAIN.COM (replace DOMAIN.COM with your actual domain name)

When starting your client on either device, you will be shown a live view of emails in your account on the server. If you mark an email for deletion from one device, the other device will also see this email marked as deleted (which will make it still appear in the list, but with a line through the subject or might be put in the trash folder depending on your email client). When you are done deleting the emails you want to get rid of, you will have to use the 'purge' option to finalize the deletions and remove them off the server for good. Once done, those emails will no longer appear on either device. Each email client is different on how to purge emails, so you may have to consult the documentation for your client on how to 'purge' emails from IMAP. Some are done automatically or can be set this way, others will require you to use a 'purge' option.

It is important that you only use IMAP for the email address you are configuring across all devices. If any devices use POP to connect it can cause email to be lost.
